In both Luke 24:49 and again in Acts 1:8, Jesus made it very clear that His followers were to be filled with the Holy Spirit. The same Holy Spirit who empowered Jesus for effective ministry to the people. The promise of the Father, the great equipping and baptism of the Holy Spirit came to pass on the day of Pentecost in Acts, chapter 2.
That great day not only fulfilled Jesus’ promise of power to His disciples, it marked the birth of the Church in the earth. Jesus intended that His church be a church of power, purity, and purpose. Pentecost is not a denomination. It is an experience of divine enablement that belongs to every Christian, regardless of your denominational affiliation.
“ Conformed to the Image of Christ ”
The ultimate purpose of Christ’s Gospel and of our wonderful redemption by the Son of God, Jesus, is that we may have reproduced within us the very life of Christ Himself. We are to be like Him in deed, in truth and in purpose.
It is God’s purpose that every man bound by sin, and enslaved by the flesh and ungodly sensual desires become sons of God. Not sons of God on some kind of lower order, but sons of God even as Jesus is !
In my words to you today, I pray that you will be absolutely convinced of God’s great love for you. And I hope that you find great peace and comfort in God’s plan and purpose for your life.
I want to share some powerful words that were penned by Roy Lessin. Lessin was the founder of Dayspring Cards, a well known greeting card company that uses Scripture in the content of their cards to promote well wishes and comfort to the cards’ recipients. I hope this encourages and comforts you today :
“ Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Jesus Christ throughout all generations, forever and forever! Amen.” Ephesians 3:20-21
God is able to do far more in your life than you can imagine. There is no limit to what He can accomplish in you and for you. The only limiting factor as to what God can do for you is your faith in His ability.
Psalm 42:8, “But each day the Lord pours His unfailing love upon me, and in the night His song shall be with me, praying to God who gives me life.”
Do you realize every moment of your life God is pouring Himself into you? He’s loving you, cherishing you and delighting in you if you’re His child! You may not be conscious of it, but He’s doing it whether you “feel” it or not. That’s just His nature. God IS love ( I John 4:8 ) and because this is what he is, He is always making Himself available to you in ways that we are not always aware of.
